Calling all moms!! This post is for you, to encourage you to get in that frame!
Mother’s Day was a little bit ago, and what better way to celebrate mom than to give her the gift of memories. Moms are the ones that are always taking the picture – always. They are rarely in front of the camera… it’s true. Sometimes it is for reasons of self doubt (trying to lost weight, need a root job, etc.) As a woman, and I totally identify with all of these sentiments. But, I’m here to tell you that those trivial things don’t matter. Your kids need to see you in photos. They need to remember your embrace, your kisses, your love. They don’t care that you are five pounds too heavy, or in need of a haircut. They don’t care that your outfit isn’t perfect or that your nails aren’t painted. They don’t see what you see – they see LOVE. Some of my favorite images with my family is when I’m in the frame loving on my kids. It doesn’t happen often enough, but I have never once regretted jumping in a picture.
I photographed this sweet family in my studio and did a bit of playing with backdrops, light, poses, etc. It was therapeutic for me to play and grow as an artist and wonderful for this family to document some beautiful moments. The mom afterwards thanked me for giving her the opportunity to dress up and feel like herself. How true is that! I love that quote and I love these images. I truly hope that they last the generations, and that her children get to look at them one day with their kids and think of how beautiful their mother is. Because let me tell you – this mom is a rockstar!
